There is an old Benedictine monastery 1 mile from Heinz Field that has been converted to a great boutique hotel called The Priory. http://www.thepriory.com

A nightís stay there, a Ducky Tours boat/bus tour of the three rivers, a visit to the Andy Warhol Museum and Heinz History Center, then a bite to eat at Primanti Brothers (seen often on Food Network and located in the wholesale meat, seafood and produce center of Pittsburgh known as The Strip) would give you and your wife a full day. Also, catch an Uber up to Mt. Washington to get a great view of Heinz Field, PNC Park and the entire downtown where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to form the mighty Ohio River.
