try a cue tip with vinegar slowly rubbing in circles a small area at a time. May take a couple of days to remove it, but shouldn't take off the base coat paints. I was able to save an old heddon 50 or 51 that had been painted with red head and white body but underneath was sienna crackle back. Really nice now, though on eye is cracked.
