Joliet Spinner

A storied lure with a mystery solved here and now.

Source: ROD AND GUN IN CANADA, Vol.7 no.1, 1905, pgs.140 & 100

George Bruton of Joliet Illinois was awarded US patent No.804,206 in November 1905.

About his lure he said:

So, if the patent on record is #804,206, where does the #59,574 stamped on the lure come from?

Some published speculation suggests that it is a British patent number.

However, if you look closely at the US patent, you will see that it is actually the

application Serial Number for when the application was filed in 1901.

Asking $55 shipped, any pay.

Thank you Joe!
