Hedge gained notoriety at the 1934 St Louis International Casting Tournament. Hedge introduced the double haul technique and beat the previous distance record by 22'.
The book side casts by Hoagie Carmicheal mentions that in 1937 Heddon made an exclusive deal to make bamboo rods, line, line dryers and other equipment using Hedges name.
In 1947 Wedges name was used for 7 taper line by Rain-Beau.
Wedge was listed in 1952 index of patents for camouflage fishing line.
